    This is a rare October 9th, 1939 program (playbill) from the Post-Broadway engagement of the PAUL VINCENT CARROLL play "THE WHITE STEED" at the Nixon Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (The production opened January 10th, 1939 at New York's Cort Theatre and ran for 136 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred WHITFORD KANE and featured GRANIA O'MALLEY, TOM BATE, RALPH CULLINAN, GERTRUDE FLYNN, WILLIAM H. MALONE, FARRELL PELLY, GRACE MILLS, ELIZABETH MALONE, WILLIAM CRAGIN, THOMAS P. DILLON, ELEANORE LAURENCE and PATRICK HENRY ..... CREDITS: Book by PAUL VINCENT CARROLL; Sets designed by WATSON BARRATT; Staged by HUGH HUNT; Produced by EDDIE DOWLING ..... DETAILS: The six panel, bi-fold playbill measures 5 1/4" X 8 1/4" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, program notes and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos or bios. The front cover features MAURICE EVANS who would appear at the Nixon Theatre the following week in Shakespeare's "HAMLET" ..... CONDITION: This playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
