A Brooch As Sweet As Rive Gauche!I am obsessed with all jewelry & accessories from the Victorian era! Everything that was made during that period had such ornate & intricate details. This brooch is no exception. It is very lightweight since the main "stone" is plastic or some type of celluloid. On top of the "stone" is painted the prettiest image in gold ink - a young girl in a field of flowers & butterflies. She is wearing a dress or nightgown & holding a flower that she just picked. She has lovely, wavy hair. The "stone" is set in a lightweight gold-toned setting. It could either be brass, aluminum or some type of alloy, but I believe that it's brass. On the back, there is a pin with a closure. The pin is not perfectly straight. Also, on the back, there is a gummy place where an old price tag once was, but that can easily be removed. This is just such a lovely piece of jewelry. It is about 2" long, and 1.75" wide. Love it!
