I'm currently listing a large number of playbills representing some of the most memorable Broadway performances (good and bad) of the 1950's and 1960's ......... This is a rare December 14th, 1965 PREMIERE PERFORMANCE playbill from the Original Broadway production of the ROBERT DHERY, GERARD CALVI and HAROLD ROME musical flop "LA GROSSE VALISE" at the Fifty-Fourth Street Theatre in New York City. (After twelve preview performances, the production would officially open December 14th, 1965 and close after only seven performances.) ..... The musical starred RONALD FRASER and VICTOR SPINETTI and featured GROSSO et MODO, FRANCE ARNELL, JOYCE JILLSON, GUY BERTIL, JOHN MAXIM and BRIGITTE VALADIN ..... CREDITS: Book by ROBERT DHERY; Music and Orchestrations by GERARD CALVI; Lyrics by HAROLD ROME ("Call Me Mister", "Fanny", "Pins and Needles", "Wish You Were Here", "Destry Rides Again", "I Can Get It For You Wholesale", "The Zulu and the Zayda"); Sets and Costumes designed by JACQUES DUPONT; Choreographed by COLETTE BROSSET; Directed by ROBERT DHERY; Produced by JOE KIPNESS and ARTHUR LESSER ..... DETAILS: The 62 page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and bios of each of the leading actors, but no cast photos ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a split and a small nick at the top seam, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian.
