In 1991 the top line Kaga Taka-maki-e was introduced by Kouho Asaka, an artist then aged 85.
Other models were added in 1993 by Isshu Tsukamoto from Kanazawa, in the Ishikawa prefecture, a famous center of lacquer work.
This Taka-maki-e model was made of ebony and was offered in the following designs:
Fuji (Mount Fuji)
Taki (Autumn)
Oshidori
(Mandarin Duck)
Ougi (Fan)
Koyo (Autum Leaves)
Hotaru (Firefly)
Uzura (Quail)
Suzume (Sparrow)

All these models were made to order at a cost of 1 Million JPY each.  Today these pens are sought after.
This pen is an absolute beauty and no photo can do it justice. The artist has brought to life these two birds through liberal use of raden and gold powders.
The concerned pen comes in used condition. Unfortunately the cap has an hairline crack (circa 2cm, see photo #6). There are some handling microscratches on the cap (photo #7) and on the barrel but the maki-e work is intact. Please contact me for further photos or condition report.
The pen is a cartridge/converter filler and comes with wooden display box (need to be restored, see photo #10), white outer box, papers, converter.
