SAILOR Fountain Pen Limited Edition WAJIMA BIJOU Maki-e Raden 21K Nib F CoralDescription
An exquisite gem made possible by the power of gemstones and the skillful handiwork of urushi lacquerware
Each region of Japan has its own wonderful traditional crafts. Among them, the art of lacquering lacquerware can be found in every region of Japan.
Among them, we picked up Wajima-nuri this time. Wajima-nuri is a type of lacquerware produced in Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and is said to date back to the Heian Period.
The technique of Wajima-nuri includes "Uenuri" using the highest quality top-coat lacquer, and "Chinkin" and "Maki-e" as decorating techniques.
We have created a fountain pen that expresses the image of jewelry by making full use of the techniques of "Ue-nuri" and "Maki-e". This is "Wajima Bijou".
The border, lid stopper, and tail stopper of the main body are finished with lacquer and mother-of-pearl inlay in colors reminiscent of jewelry.
Each gemstone has its own stone language, and this fountain pen is imbued with the power of the stone language. Bijou" is a French word meaning jewel. This fountain pen is the result of careful work by Wajima-nuri maki-e craftsmen, and is a coveted piece that is worthy of being called a "Bijou" in itself.
