This is a rare March 15th, 1954 "On Stage" playbill from the Post-Broadway engagement of the groundbreaking RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical comedy "OKLAHOMA!" at the Opera House in Boston, Massachusetts. (The Original Broadway production opened March 31st, 1943 at the St. James Theatre in New York City and ran for 2212 performances. This 10th Anniversary revival opened August 31st, 1953 at the New York City Center Theatre and ran for a limited engagement of 40 performances before going on the road.) ..... The ensemble cast included FLORENCE HENDERSON, BARBARA COOK, RIDGE BOND, MARY MARLO, CHARLES HART, CHARLES SCOTT, CHARLES RULE, HARRIS HAWKINS, ALFRED CIBELLI, JR., DAVID LE GRANT, JUDY RAWLINGS, MAGGI NELSON, FRANCIS IRBY, PATTI PARSONS, LYNNE BROADBENT, CATHY CONKLIN, OWEN MARTIN, GEORGE LAWRENCE and BOB LORD ..... CREDITS: Music by RICHARD RODGERS; Book and Lyrics by OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN 2nd based on the play "Green Grow the Lilacs" by LYNN RIGGS. DETAILS: This twelve page playbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes full production credits, cast list, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a light fold across the middle, the start of a split at the bottom seam and a minor corner crease, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
