This is a rare souvenir program from the Pre-Broadway engagement of the CAROLYN LEIGH and MARK "MOOSE" CHARLAP version of the musical "PETER PAN" at the Philharmonic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. (The production would open October 20th, 1954 at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City and run for 152 performances.) ..... The musical starred the legendary MARY MARTIN (shown in the cover photos) as "Peter Pan" and CYRIL RITCHARD as "Captain Hook" and included KATHY NOLAN, MARGALO GILLMORE, ROBERT HARRINGTON, HELLER HALLIDAY, JOSEPH STAFFORD, RICHARD WYATT, DON LURIO, JOAN TEWKESBURY, NORMAN SHELLY, DAVID BEAN, STANLEY STENNER, ALAN SUTHERLAND, DARRYL DURAN, JOE E. MARKS, SONDRA LEE, RONNIE LEE and SALLY BROPHIE ..... Side Note: Both MARY MARTIN and CYRIL RITCHARD would be honored with Tony Awards in their respective categories. Also, veteran composer JULE STYNE and lyricists BETTY COMDEN and ADOLPH GREEN were called in to doctor the book and score after this program was printed and several songs were cut in Los Angeles with additional new songs added (see cut songs below) ..... CUT SONGS: The list of musical numbers includes "Be Our Mother", "Never Land" (replaced by Styne, Comden and Green's "Never, Never Land"), "The Old Gavotte" and "Saturday Night Polka" which were cut out-of-town ..... PLEASE NOTE: The scanned pages have been cropped due to the limitations of my scanner. The margins are slightly wider than shown ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a note ("With Pete 1954") written on the back cover and light corner creases, this program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
