Description
Large 19th c. Pharmacy, Country Store Wall Cabinet, Shelving UnitA variety of different storage and display options come with this old Pharmacy cabinet. Found in a long narrow decades closed store,
this substantial display cabinet went from front to back, as most those old built-in pieces did. They were never meant to come out.
Mostly Walnut with some pine at the rear and a few minor pine repairs. You can see the center of the base has a pine board that was replaced at one time.
The one board lumber used when this piece was built is remarkable.
This piece will hold just about anything you could want on it. Perfect for most store setting or a large room in your home to display your favorite collections. Imagine quilts and textiles, old advertising tins and bins. Glassware or pottery. If you've a dark room, all kinds of fun mysterious and oddities can be shown!
Dating to approx. 1880s, this measures approx. 122" (10 feet 2 inches) Long, 84" Tall (7 feet) with the base at 33" tall and 36" deep. Top at 51" tall and 24" deep.
Sturdy and solid piece. Here are the issues with it .... A new owner of the building had the piece cut down, somewhat crudely as can see by the last two photos of the backside.
This was so that the piece became manageable for their display purposes. The piece originally was built to suit a 30 foot plus wall. Curved at the ends of the shelves and
pedestal legs for supports in between shelves.
The photos tell most of the story on condition. There are worn spots, some mild breakage here and there, notably in the curves on one end as the tips are missing.
And the splice where the piece was cut and rejoined. Non the less, a rare piece.
