Ian Anderson may be the acclaimed frontman, but it's Martin Barre that has always been the heart and soul of the legendary band - and, the man responsible for most of the timeless guitar riffs heard in Tull classics like "Aqualung," "Locomotive Breath" and other rock radio standards. Barre, one of the friendliest people on earth, was captured for this candid image at the Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida, during Jethro Tull's 2002
Living With The Past
Tour. Only minutes from taking the stage, Barre kept his band waiting while he posed for a series of images in the dressing room, stairwell and the pitch-black backstage area of the famed Clearwater venue. A rare image of an all too often overlooked great. Anderson himself has been quoted as saying, "without Martin Barre, Jethro Tull could not exist." A truer thing has never been said
