I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ....... This is a rare four-page playbill from the out-of-town tryout of the VERNON DUKE and LESLIE STEVENS musical comedy "THE PINK JUNGLE" at the Shubert Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts. (The production opened October 14th, 1959 at the Alcazar Theatre in San Francisco and closed December 12th, 1959 in Boston, canceling the scheduled Broadway opening.) ..... The musical starred GINGER ROGERS and featured AGNES MOOREHEAD, LEIF ERICKSON, MAGGIE HAYES, GAVIN GORDON, BUCK CLASS, RENE PAUL, MARILYN WATSON, RAY HAMILTON, LOUIS NYE, JUDY CASSMORE, BRUCE PETER YARNELL and LISA JOHNSON ..... CONDITION: This rare playbill shows heavy creasing, considerable tearing along the edges and minor discoloration. Despite these flaws, this playbill will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
