    This is a rare January 22nd, 1934 "Playgoer" playbill from the Post-Broadway engagement of the GEORGE and IRA GERSHWIN, GEORGE S. KAUFMAN and MORRIE RYSKIND musical comedy "LET 'EM EAT CAKE" at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (The sequel to the Pulitzer Prize winning "Of Thee I Sing" opened October 21st, 1933 at the Imperial Theatre in New York City and ran for only 89 performances before going on the road.) ..... The musical starred WILLIAM GAXTON, LOIS MORAN and VICTOR MOORE and featured FLORENZ AMES, GRACE WORTH, HAROLD MOFFET, RUTH ADAMS, ABE REYNOLDS, IRMA PHILBIN, EDWARD H. Also includes the credits for the Post-Broadway engagement of the Elizabeth McFadden play "DOUBLE DOOR" at Philadelphia's Chestnut Street Opera House (last three scanned images) ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a minor corner crease at the top seam and the date written at the top of the title page, this playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
