This exquisite and unique mask is carved out by hand of folk artists without using any machine in China. This mask is the Tun Kou. It means in English "swallow mouth" = terminate all bad things. Its shape is generally designed as a tiger's head, with a sword in its mouth and a word of "wang" or taoism religon symbol - Eight-Diagram on its forehead. Our people usually hang it on the door. Why do people hang it at the top of the door? Why should it make a tiger head? This is because in the ancients times,  we believe the evil, ghots which are most fearful. This invisible evil, which threatens the safety of the family, threatens the health and survival of the person. So, our people believed that the tiger was the most powerful and fierce in the world, tiger can swallow all the devils when they enter our house, even the devils escaped, but the sword in Tun Kou's mouth can fly to kill them.
We believe these masks are auspicious who can bring the fortune, lucky to us.
