This is a rare advertising handbill (flyer) promoting theone-week, National Tour engagement of the BELLA and SAMUEL SPEWACK comedy success "BOY MEETS GIRL" at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut beginning September 28th, 1936. (The production opened November 27th, 1935 at the Cort Theatre in New York City and ran for 669 performances while simultaneously playing on the road and abroad.) ..... ..... DETAILS: Advertising handbills (heralds) were distributed or inserted into the playbills of other productions to help generate ticket sales for upcoming shows and events. This single page, two-sided handbill measures 5 5/8" X 9 1/4" inches and includes wonderful cover graphics by famed illustrator JOHN HELD, Jr., production credits and performance dates on the front and promotional text and brief bios of the playwrights and the producer and promotional text on the backside ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a small stain on the right edge, a chipped edge in the top right corner, light creasing and minor edge wear, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
