Art Nouveau Brooch Stamped Brass Sash Pin Blue Glass Stone C Clasp
In the late Victorian and early Edwardian eras, large sash pins/brooches, often resembling buckles, were a popular item of wear. Fashionable women would copy Queen Victoria's style by wearing a sash from over their shoulder to their hip. Sash pins were used either to fasten the sash at the hip or on a belt. Common characteristics include thick pin stems in order to pass through several layers of fabric, and simple "C" clasps.
This brooch has a simple, shield shaped frame with an elaborate scroll design at the center. A large, bezel set, blue glass rhinestone sits at the very center.
Measures 2-1/2" wide by 2" high.
The condition is very good with some age discoloration.  The clasp is in good working order.
