Antique ,Limoges of France ,Hand Made,Scrolled Brass ,Lovers Brooch

Description

This is a very early antique brooch . One of a kind.
The center piece is porcelain made at the famous Limoges Factory in France.
The company has been around since the 17th century  and they innovated new ways to make better porcelain.  Porcelain which is known for its lustrous finish .
They were also well known for their talented artisans who painted these tiny works of art .
This unique square brooch has a painting of 2 lovers sitting outdoors and enjoying a book . They are wearing 18th century costumes.
Its all hand painted then fired making it very durable with bright colors.
It is set in a hand made frame which probably came from Germany or another country .
It has a scrolled brass fitting and a mainly solid back .
The clasp is a trombone or tube which was patented in 1850  and used in Europe  till around 1910 .
These early clasps were all hand made not machine made.
Its a wonderful piece in excellent antique condition.
It measures 1-1/2" square .
