Description
This is a wonderful antique Victorian three leaf clover brooch was crafted in gold washed sterling silver and set with lovely seed pearls.
It is not marked but tested as sterling silver. The pearls are in near perfect condition. The metal shows some wear, scratches and signs of oxidation, which is consistent with an age.  The brooch has period correct tube hinge and C - clasp closure with pin back extending beyond the body of the brooch by 3 mm.
Wearing clover Victorian jewellery was an attractive common superstitious practice. It was said to help ward off demons, hardships, misfortune, and protect from evil spirits. It was thought to bring the owner success, harmony, and many blessings.
