    Description

Early 20th century (or possibly earlier) round brass brooch/pin with the letter A in fanciful relief.
An early example of a locking (safety) type C clasp, which was reportedly invented in 1901.
Some small nicks to the front surface due to age.
The pattern of surface damage on the back indicates it may have been a button or typewriter key first and converted to a pin.
Three grams in weight, it is c. 2/3 of an inch (18mm) across in diameter.
