This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting ticket sales for the two-week, National Tour engagement of theWILLIAM F. BROWN and CHARLIE SMALLS musical "THE WIZ" at the Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin beginning August 15th, 1977. (The production opened January 5th, 1975
at the Majestic Theatre in New York City
and ran for 1672 performances while simultaneously playing on the road.) ..... Winner of seven Tony Awards including "Best Musical", the Original Broadway Cast included fifteen year-old STEPHANIE MILLS as "Dorothy", HINTON BATTLE as the "Scarecrow", TIGER HAYNES as "The Tinman" and TED ROSS as "The Lion" as well as CLARICE TAYLOR, MABEL KING, TASHA THOMAS, DEE DEE BRIDGEWATER (Tony Award), PHYLICIA AYERS-ALLEN, EVELYN THOMAS and ANDRE DE SHIELDS as "The Wiz" ..... This single page, two-sided handbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes wonderful graphics, production credits, an excerpt from a New York review and ticket prices on the front and a ticket order form and excerpts from several reviews on the backside ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light creasing and minor edge wear, this rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
