Description
19th c. Rare General Store Sliding Glass Display Cabinet w/ DrawersWe need to move asap to make room for garage/storeroom renovation.
Unique piece that looks as if it were built to sit on or around other store fixtures. Five large drawers under the expansive glass display area with four more underneath. As you can see the piece is sitting on very long legs. Two very large sliding glass doors are there to protect your display. Wainscot back in the interior. Original wavy old glass in the sliding doors.
Purchased with other similar store pieces (same store) that were made by the Chas. Bodach & Sons Co in Chicago. We can't move this heavy piece ourselves to see if this is marked by same makers mark.
This never came with shelving when we acquired it, but please note, the brackets and side racks appear to be there as can see in photos.
This two piece cupboard measures approx.
Overall height 96"
Top:
8.1 Foot (97.5") long with cornice. 57" Tall.
Base:
8 Foot (96") at the widest on base.
39" Tall
Top drawers are 17" wide by 3.75" tall
Bottom drawers are 19" wide.
Sliding doors are 43" tall by 46.5" wide.
Great condition for it's age. As found condition but it could use a mild cleaning. We were told this came out of a early Clock and Jewelry store. The only issue which is not a great concern is one leg has some char to it. At least that's the best way I can describe it. It's a strong and sturdy piece. Would be neat to put a store counter underneath.
This piece has many uses ......loaded with anything from fine collectibles to folkart, primitives, Native American display, much more.
Use in an Antique Store, Lobby, or Museum. Many uses. It's very hard to find this kind of display. Original Condition, normal imperfections due to age and use. Striking piece.
